Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

This occurs having just updated from Intrepid->Jaunty. Compiz is enabled and the graphics card is using the 180 nVidia drivers.

In any dialog in OpenOffice.org (this doesn't seem to occur in other programs), whenever the mouse goes over a widget, the writing disappears and often doesn't reappear once the mouse leaves the widget, though sometimes it does.

(I may download the LiveCD and see if this bug is reproducible there.)

Hi daniel-saunders,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Here's xorg.conf, I don't think it's been changed.

I was having this problem, and found a workaround in which I turned full hinting on in font preferences under 'Appearance.' A limited version of the problem cropped up again when I was using the 'Dust' desktop theme, however downloading Dust 0.4 has mostly fixed it.

Not a diagnosis, I know, but perhaps this helps to find one?

Thanks for the idea Nat, but it didn't help here. Looking forward to finding out a solution!

Same story. Font preferences were like that in the first place (switched to full hinting right after install). Chosen appearance theme doesn't seem to change anything.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
