Nvidia driver 180.35 causes problems Kubuntu Jaunty

After installing Alpha 5 (and even the daily builds) of Kubuntu Jaunty everything works fine until i install the nvidia driver 180.35 and reboot my laptop. If this driver is installed i just can't seem to log out, restart or shutdown the computer. The whole desktop freezes. This happens also when i use some applications and some even won't start up at all. All i can do is press the powerbutton on my laptop to shut it down.

However, with the 173 driver of nvidia everything seems to work. But..... with this older driver the effects like minimizing windows and so on just don't work very smooth.
