Can't install NVidia driver on Karmic

Kernel: 2.6.31-14

Upon selecting this driver from Hardware drivers menu and finishing installation, reboot results in a black/white screen ( like a disco-light .. white/black/white/black/white/black ). modprobe returned "no modules installed".
