crash report came after trying to update ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty). ubuntu is running under vmware workstation 6.5.

Examining your DpkgTerminalLog.txt file I see the following:

run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common
run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common exited with return code 10
Failed to process /etc/kernel/postinst.d at /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic.postinst line 1002.
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2

This seems similar to bug 303825 but that should be resolved as of nvidia-common version 0.2.10. I'm reassigning to nvidia-common for now. Thanks.
