Bug Description

Hi

Description: Ubuntu 11.10
Release: 11.10
unity:
  Installed: 4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1
  Candidate: 4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1
  Version table:
 *** 4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     4.22.0-0ubuntu3 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open a window that takes a long time to close (use testcase attached)
2) Position the window so that when the dash appears half of it is under the dash and half of it isn't.
3) Click close on the window
4) Show the dash before the window closes
5) Wait for the window to close - Note that the window closes outside of the dash, However inside the dash the window still remains (look at screenshot)

What should happen:
- When a window is closed under the dash it should be cleared under the blur effect.

I have attached a screenshot of the bug and a pygobject testcase. Which when you click the close button waits 3 seconds before closing.

If you are looking for a real world example, I was playing a game closed this window and enabled the dash. However the game took a long time to close the window so the bug occurred.

Hope this bug can be fixed soon.

Andy

The same issue occurs with quicklist backgrounds and tooltip backgrounds. Seems like an issue with Nux to me.

Also affects me on Precise, unity 5.4.0.
Very annoying...

...And also when a window opens. If we start a program that starts for a long time (e.g. Ubuntu Software Center) and then press the key to open Dash fast, window shows in launcher but doesn't show in blur effect.

I think the blur effect should be updated after each changing of launcher.

Sorry for bad English (please correct it if you can :) )

Yes, it doesn't update when an application starts, too.

This bug seems to be a duplicate: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/931096

The issue doesn't seem to happen on precise, could you try if you still get the issue?

One other possibility is that it happens only on videos judged too slow by unity to do active blur...

Could I check it when the stable version will be available? Or it's better
to check it now?

you can check whenever works for you, the stable version is due next week so it's not a long time to wait ;-)

Seems like it's still happening at least when using ctrl-alt-d while the dash is open (bug #952409)
