And ntfs-3g cannot do anything about it, as it is caused by a bug in fuse.

Upgrade or downgrade or patch fuse in order to avoid using original fuse 2.9.0 and fuse 2.9.1

Please help:
how do I do that?

Could this be related to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1156216
(test of upstream kernel)?

I'm experincing this in precise 12.04. I'll be rsyncing to the mounted ntfs-3g external drive, and it will umount in mid trasfer. System load is 3.00 at this time, and I can even ls at the command prompt.

Only after reboot does my system fully recover from this crash/unmount.
