Bug Description

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

nspluginwrapper 1.1.4 was released upstream and fixes some major bugs. XEMBED support was improved by working around Gtk2 and Firefox bugs. Memory leaks in the NPRuntime bridge were fixed. Some other bugs were fixed to improve compatibility, namely supported NPAPI version, NPP_URLNotify(), and DiamondX in Konqueror.

I've been running 1.1.4 that I compiled from source at http://freshmeat.net/projects/nspluginwrapper/?branch_id=75051&release_id=288070 and it doesn't crash Firefox and I don't get the grey boxes as mentioned in many bug reports for nspluginwrapper. Please someone upload the new upstream release to their PPA and get this out there. I would do it myself, but I'm to inexperienced (also can't upload to my PPA and/or don't know how yet). Thanks, this will help many users.

don't forget to reinstall flash after installing the new nspluginwrapper version:

sudo aptitude reinstall flashplugin-nonfree

(it was necessary for me at least)

With 1.1.4 nsplugingwrapper I noticed some resize problems with flash movies. E.g. resizing a movie player window (beta.tvkaista.fi, worked with 1.1.2) causes the video picture to grow bigger but the player area doesn't grow.

Adobe has released alpha version of 64bit Linux Flash player, seems to be working very well.

It is alpha quality however and should in no way be a replacement as this point.

For me it's working better than using 32bit Flash player using nspluginwrapper..

Runs flawlessly for me. Not one crash since installing yesterday. I can even access some sites that would not work at all on linux even with the latest flash, like mbusa.com. It also doesn't eat my CPU nearly as much, unless I watch High Definition video on Hulu.com. I'm archiving this release in case they release the final version and it doesn't work anymore. Gotta love Adobe.
