Bug Description

Hello,

Since I updated to Ubuntu 20.04, my printer does not print. I have installed and uninstalled the printer several times and test with different URI adresses which the PC found the printer.
I uninstalled and installed again HPLIP but there are some dependencies that cannot be installed.
The model of the printer is an HP OfficeJet 9650.
The script HP-doctor didn't solve the problem. See the attached file for the output of the script hp-check.

I look forward to hear from you soon

For any question, don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Biel Trobat

Hi Dmitry,

Sorry if I am wrong, when HPLIP tries to install all the dependencies, it
cannot install pyqt5 library among others. I don't know what is happening
but since I updated the computer to Ubuntu 20.04, the printer doesn't work.
I have tried many configurations. Ubuntu has found the printer in these
addresses, but in anyone of them the printer works.

Could you please, tell me how to set up the printer hp OfficeJet 6950, to
work on ubuntu 20,04?

kind regards,

Biel Trobat

Could you uninstall any version of HPLIP which you installed directly from HP and the re-install Ubuntu's HPLIP with the command:

sudo apt install --reinstall printer-driver-hpcups printer-driver-postscript-hp libsane-hpaio hplip-gui hplip hplip-data libhpmud0

If there is any problem, post the screen output of this command here. If not, try to set up your printer again and see whether it works now.

If you do not get your printer working with HPLIP, you will most probably also be able to set it up driverless, for this run the command:

lpadmin -p HPOJ6950 -E -v ipps://HP1062E574516C.local:443/ipp/print -m everywhere

Are you able to print with this print queue?

I have the same issue, unable to print using an HP DeskJet3720 since upgrading to 20.04, none of the HP apps open - the icons appear but nothing happens. I tried the advice in the above two posts and it made no difference. I ve tried older versions of HPLIP still no joy.

When reinstalling using the command given in post #4 I was asked to use current config or the standard one (or manufacturers cant remember the actual term) I chose my current config, tried the command again (in order to pick the other option) but I dont get the same prompt.

Same issue issue with an OfficeJet 8010 here on a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 install. HPLIP downloaded from hp.com used to work on 16.04 & 18.04 setups with this printer.

No HPLIP installed from hp.com, just Ubuntu 20.04 installation.

I ran the command from post #4, no error. But it still does not work. Please find attached hp-check log.
