Notifications stop displaying

Bug Description

I have been running into this bug for about a year and haven't been able to figure out the cause. If I keep my computer on for a day or two the notifications stop displaying. I've downloaded the source and run append-hint-example.py without seeing anything.

Oh yeah, I looked at my notify-osd.log and everything that should display that hasn't is there.

If it is helpful, I am pretty sure notifications are off when I'm using VirtualBox in fullscreen mode on another desktop. I just shut down VirtualBox and everything is back.

conky script to read notify-osd.log and display on screen Edit (1.3 KiB, text/x-python)

Well, something else is causing the notifications to not display now. I have no idea what it is, but because of the necessity of notifications for my daily life I had to write a script for conky to display them on my second monitor. I'm including this python script for anyone else that runs into this problem.
