Bug Description

Notifications should disappear when acted upon.

When you click the contact list, all notifications about contacts should be discarded
When you reconnect the network-manager, all previous network-manager notifications should be discarded
When you click the music-player window, all notifications of the music-player should be discarded.
and so on...

This way, you won't get notifications about things you allready know about.

This is very annoying, for example when a lot of people login to your messenger at the same time. Sometimes the notifications are more than a minute late.

I totally agree with that. Often I have chat notifications of messages I already read..

... i second that!
the point of notifying is to make someone aware of something he doesn't know
about.
once the person knows about it, notification is nothing but a nuisance..

please fix!

Agreed. When I'm opening gwibber it's notificating me about all public tweets. With today's notify-osd its takes ~5 minutes of annoying blinking messages. And even when I'm closing gwibber I still sit and watch this horror and can't do anything else killing notify-osd process. Same with offline messages in any IM. Really notify-osd looks nice, but this idea with showing-one-by-one-click-through-messages is awful. KDE's, Growl's and even old notification-server's notifications more usable and manageable in all aspects.

I think it would be a solution, if I clicked on the notification it would close, because sometimes I read it quickly.
It's annoying, that this bug still exist in Precise...

Or at least by opening the messaging menu (it lists the notification anyways)
