Bug Description
For some transitory messages, the default notification appearance time is too long.
For examples quick network glitches that force one or two seconds disconnections stay up for 10 or more seconds. Once the NM reconnects the new connection notification stay up for another 10 seconds.

the changes to notifications as compared to jaunty are a seriously retrograde step.
the new position of "asyncronous" notifications is absurd and looks ridiculous, but i appreciate this is another matter for another place.
however the above mentioned problem, as well as the key issue of this bug could be obviated by simply making all notifications appear in the corner with existing notifications moving downwards to make room in a downward-growing stack.
this is quite obviously the best solution, avoiding delays, without compromising the time a notification is shown for.
i have already seen the response from the ubuntu fascist police about this which was "i will hear your protestations just so long as they dont disagree with the "decided" policy".
frankly its the screensaver- settings nonsense all over again, and the attitude beggars belief.
we want settings, and we dont want to be dictated to on what is supposed to be a "free" (not as in beer) o/s. ubuntu is fast becoming mac os.
good day.
