Bug Description

Binary package hint: notify-osd

As of notify-osd 0.9.18-0ubuntu1, it is disregarding any position set under Preferences > Pop-Up Notifications.

Instead it displays in a non-default position 2/3 down vertically and along the right edge of the screen.

I understand that now, thanks. But, I find it strange that using this tool does not bring up the old-style notifications. It displays a notify-osd bubble and obviously cannot configure it's display position.

Is this a bug with notification-properties that I should get filed? Has this tool been deprecated from Karmic and is just hanging around on my system due to upgrading from previous releases vs clean install?

tekstr1der, the only version of Ubuntu in which notification-properties was ever included was Ubuntu 9.04 alpha 4 last February; that mistake was fixed in alpha 5. So I guess it has been hanging around on your system since then. It would make sense to report a bug that notification-properties should not claim to be controlling notification settings when the current notification server is not notification-daemon.

Gavo, the position of Notify OSD bubbles is decided by Mark Shuttleworth, who is not subscribed to this bug report. You might try the Ayatana mailing list instead. https://lists.launchpad.net/ayatana/
