Bug Description

Binary package hint: notify-osd

Here is an easy way to trigger this:

  for i in $(seq 1 3); do notify-send $i; done

On my system "1" and "3" are displayed - 2 is eaten. But strangely if I switch workspace while 2 should be displaying then it appears.

They should all appear regardless of which workspace is active.

Installed version:
ii notify-osd 0.8-0ubuntu4 daemon that displays passive pop-up notifications

Thanks a lot for the bug report. The test is interesting. I have been able to reproduce it /once/ when using metacity + compositing. However, i cannot reproduce it consistently on my system. Can you consistently reproduce it on your system, ie does the test /always/ produce the same result?

Sometimes it is 3 that isn't displayed, but I don't know if that's a side-effect of running the test too soon after a previous notification or something.

Interestingly if I disable the compositor (I am using metacity's as compiz does not work for me yet) then the bug is not present.

I was unable to repro this with Compiz or with no visual effects, so this is probably limited to metacity with compositing.

Still present. I'm attaching a video to show what happens. Sadly it's a bit large as gtk-recordmydesktop didn't respect the border I set.

setting to new as the reporter confirmed the issue being still there. but it will be helpful if you could confirm with Ubuntu 10.04/10.10
