Settings in "Pop-up notifications" disregarded

All settings in Preferences -> "Pop-up notifications" are disregarded by notify-osd. I think this menu item should be either made to work or removed from the Preferences menu.

Actually, at this point it is impossible to change anything in behaviour of notify-osd bubbles.

I do not even have a menu entry called "Pop-up notifications" in System->Preferences on my gnome desktop. is that an optional component?

It's not an optional component, at least it wasn't when I installed a daily build of jaunty a few weeks ago. It's notification-daemon, the element in the menu is called notification-properties. Maybe it has been removed from the ubuntu meta package since then? I'm not sure how to check this.

Just confirming. The app seems to write settings in the gconf, but notify-osd just ignores the gconf settings (or maybe there's a typo from the app and that's why the settings are not read).

It seems to be a part of notification-daemon. Its presence is misleading if it's not going to work with notify-osd.
