Bug Description

I upgraded a 11.04 installation to 11.10 and the NFS-COMMON package was not upgraded.
I get this message:
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
    Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut
    Status-Informationen einlesen... Fertig
    Paketaktualisierung (Upgrade) wird berechnet... Fertig
Die folgenden Pakete sind zurückgehalten worden:
      nfs-common
0 aktualisiert, 0 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 1 nicht aktualisiert.
I have still the old package from 11.04 installed.

Similar issues were seen prior to 11.10 release, but were resolved by correctly setting the package priorities for rpcbind and portmap.

Please show the output of 'sudo apt-get install nfs-common' on the affected system.

I installed NFS-COMMON in this way and some packages were removed by this action.

Now everything is working.

This log shows the same issue as before release, with nfs-common being held back in order to avoid removing portmap in favor of rpcbind. We addressed this by raising the archive priority of rpcbind, but that doesn't seem to have solved the problem for everyone.

Michael, can you think of anything else we should do here to get a clean upgrade? rpcbind already Conflicts/Provides/Replaces portmap. Do we need to add a dummy 'portmap' transitional package (with a lower archive priority) to help this along?
