This bug was fixed in the package nfs-utils - 1:1.2.0-2ubuntu3

nfs-utils (1:1.2.0-2ubuntu3) karmic; urgency=low

  * nfs-kernel-server: don't cal invoke-rc.d nfs-common in the postinst, this
    is redundant anyway and the nfs-common init script is gone now.
    LP: #441855.

why have you marked this bug 'invalid'? It certainly wasn't, it was a real bug that has been fixed.

 Re: nfs-common borked (from ubuntu forums)

My eee-pc 1000 (NBR) is affected, too. Its symptoms include a missing file - "/etc/init.d/nfs-common". However, in Launchpad, bug #441855 Steve says he's fixed this.

If so, how do I retrieve the fixed modules? Synaptic doesn't update nfs-common, nor nfs-kernel-server, and it doesn't list nfs-utils.
AMD Sempron with NEC Multisync fp2141sb Trinitron & Acer screen - twinview.
Asus eee-pc 1000 (the eeep)
Both use Ubuntu.

This was a real bug that has been fixed in recent versions of nfs-utils. It is inappropriate for you to convert it into a question.
