The log on this bug shows:

Setting up nfs-common (1:1.2.8-9ubuntu1) ...
Failed to issue method call: Unit statd.service failed to load: No such file or directory.
invoke-rc.d: initscript statd, action "restart" failed.
dpkg: error processing package nfs-common (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 6

This indicates that you are booting systemd. While Ubuntu is migrating to systemd over the next few cycles, it is not guaranteed to work at this point for any arbitrary collection of installed packages.

Changed in nfs-utils (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → High

Same issue on my Ubuntu 14.10.

Since the installation of 'nfs-common' this errors started to appear on installation of each package with apt-get.
