Bug Description

Ubuntu 12.04 - When I boot up I get a "connection established" message for my wired network. I can browse the web, etc and everything works fine. The problem is that when I clieck on the network manager it shows "Wired Network disconnected" and will not let me connect to my VPN until I disable networking then re-enable it.

I deleted the wired network then added it again. After a reboot it seems to work OK and does not require me to disable networking and renabling it just to connect to my VPN.

Never mind. That only lasted for a few reboots. The problem has returned.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

Sorry, I don't understand what the cause of the issue might be here.

Would you be able to attach some extra information? Basically, I would need:

- a screenshot of the menu showing the problem;
- contents of /var/log/syslog when you see the issue; and
- the output of the nm-tool command at the time.
