Bug Description

After I have switched to Ubuntu 11.10 I'm now having problems with network manager as the "Automatically connect to the Internet" function doesn't seem to be working, although the option is activated. In addition I get the "You are now registered on the home network" message every time I manually connect to the Internet, which might have something to do with the issue. I'm only able to use GSM USB modem and I don't use any passwords. Any help would be appreciated as the said function is vital to me. Thanks in advance.

@Vladimir: Were you trying to connect with eth0 or with wlan0? Can you send syslog output for attempts to connect with eth0 or wlan0 to the LAN?

Well... The point is there's no home network. That USB stick modem connects me directly to the Internet, if I get this right.
And since I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 now and the problem remained I filed another bug report which is: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/987889
...and you have already been there. We might carry on in that thread. Only I'm not really advanced in terms of outputs and would be thankful to get a link on a howto or something...
Thank you so much for your help,
Vlad.
