Bug Description

After upgrade to Oneiric, my mobile broadband connection does not connect automatically, as "Enable Mobile Broadband" checkbox is cleared in the network manager menu. I expect mobile broadband connections to be enabled after reboot if I enable it previously.

I am also affected by this I think: although I have checked 'connect automatically' in the mobile broadband connection settings, I still have to activate the mobile broadband connection manually every time.

After some reflection, I think my previous post is not relevant to this bug.
I am however able to reproduce the original behavior ("Enable Mobile Broadband" becomes unchecked at reboot), also on my 32 bit netbook.

Update: this also occurs when I replug my 3G dongle. Wireless broadband connections become disabled.

Automatic connection of 3G and VPN isn't currently supported in NetworkManager. We already have a tracking bug for this: bug 848164. As such, I'll mark this one as a duplicate of it.

As for the Enable Mobile Broadband checkbox, at this point it only really shows the current state of the 3G device for powering up or not. It cannot (yet) be used to enable the modem. There's more info about this on the upstream bug (see links in bug 848164) and on the NetworkManager mailing list.

Thanks!
