Bug Description

My work's wifi network is named "101", after connecting the connection gets ssid=e. manually changing /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/101 and using nmcli to connect doesn't work. nm is still seeing it as "e".

later connections to the same network spawn new "101 %d" connections, all with ssid=e and usable one time only.

I uploaded network-manager 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5~mtrudel~nm1 to my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~mathieu-tl/+archive/nm/+sourcepub/2002351/+listing-archive-extra. The package should be built and available in a few hours.

If someone affected wants to start testing *that*, then it will be easier and quicker to get the testing for a SRU once the one currently being tested is accepted.

would check this out but i'm on a ppc. lubuntu 11.10 for what it's worth. i've got a 23 that becomes an end of transmission character. good old unicode U+0017. so the bottom line is the decimal gets translated to hex. thus 101 becomes U+0065, a lower case e. if i can get my intel vm working i'll tell you what i find out. should be an easy fix regardless.

Walter,

You can try to recompile the package on your own by getting the sources from my PPA, it shouldn't be very complicated ;)

I had this same problem running Ubuntu 11.10 (my network, 178, became ²).

Mathieu, I just tried your package and it fixed things perfectly. Thank you.

Added the repo and apt-get install --build succeeded but didn't result in any change. PPC needs some help, obviously.

Hello Alejandro, or anyone else affected,

Accepted network-manager into oneiric-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

I've been using the PPA without any issue. Just enabled the proposed repo, no nm there yet... I hope all these other proposed updated don't kill my pets. :)

Alejandro, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed, it describes how to use pinning to avoid installing extra packages from proposed. By now AFAICS N-M is built for all but powerpc (sorry, powerpc builds take some extra time).
