PSK passphrases do not work on ppc

Bug Description

I'm using dapper on a powerbook that is connected to a wpa encrypted network. When I enter the plain text passpharse network manager is unable to connect to the network, but when I tried tried the psk passphrase generated by wpa_passphrase it worked. So, long story short, I looked through network-manger's source and I noticed that libnm-util0 wasn't compiled with the -DWORDS_BIGENDIAN flag. After I recompiled libmn-util with this flag I was able to connect to my network.

NOTE: this flag is only required for the ppc arch. My Dell laptop, also running dapper, connects to the network just fine with network manager without recompiling it.

It is, I contacted the debian maintainer and they were the ones that fixed it. Hopefully the ubuntu maintainter will backport it to dapper.

How can users encourage this to happen? The backport of the Debian fix to Ubuntu Dapper, I mean.

Still confirmed in edgy. UVF is in effect, and NM isn't a high priority so it is unlikely the patch will make it through.

bug still in edgy on 10.10.2006...
why is this bug not fixed?
network-manager is nearly the only way to get wpa properly to work ( cli is not always the best interface...)

Still seems to be a bug in Feisty, Herd 3. Will it ever be fixed as the patch is already here?

How come an easy bug like this survives for so many releases without being taken care off ?
Please there's still time before feisty is released, can someone apply the patch?

That patch seems to be included in Feisty, unfortunately some more changes are necessary in order to make it work.

With the attached patch NetworkManager running on my PPC based Powerbook does finaly connect to my WPA2 encrypted network.

This is a serious issue for all ppc users !

Any news on this one?

this should be fixed in network-manager in gutsy. We included an endianess fix that should deal with WPA issues on ppc.

If you still see it (e.g. in 0.6.5-0ubuntu14), please reopen.
