Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Network manager's applet claims that I have no wired ethernet. Manually running ifconfig allows me to use the interface.

% dmesg| grep -i eth
[ 2.361700] eth0: Broadcom 44xx/47xx 10/100BaseT Ethernet 00:1d:09:b1:75:1e
[ 103.129301] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
[ 106.816201] b44: eth0: Link is up at 100 Mbps, full duplex.
[ 106.816203] b44: eth0: Flow control is off for TX and off for RX.
[ 106.824176] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready
[ 117.760060] eth0: no IPv6 routers present
[ 135.273546] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3

Lamont, can you run:

apport-collect 450458

...to add more debug information to the bug?

The fact that apport-collect needs me to grant it "Change anything" access to my launchpad account makes me wonder why on earth it needs total access to my account, or if it's just a lack of granularity in the launchpad api. In any case, I forgot that I'd filed this, and filed bug 453644 with more details about the machine and the end result of the configuration.

What other information would you like to see?
