Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
scenario is a linux workstation, home directory is mounted via nfs, the authentication method is ldap, network is dhcp based.
sometimes everything is working, but sometimes not, the networkmanager starts to late, or get no ip adress from dhcp-server.
its not a server problem.
i think the startup order is wrong.
why the network manager is S50NetworkManager and the S20nscd comes later
for such an environment it is absolutely importand
1. set up network
2. mount nfs drives
3. start nscd for login
4. kdm / gdm
even when i try to set up /etc/network/

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release the Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http:// www.ubuntu. com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
