Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

If the cellular network leads to the mobile broadband connection dropping for some reason, Network Manager does _not_ auto-reconnect, and there is no option in the settings to request it.

Ideally there should be a tickbox to allow auto-reconnection ("redialling") of the 3G connection.

I use my mobile Nokia E51 as 3g modem (using USB cable).

When the connection drops (or manually disconnects), and I try to reconnect, it fails.
The only way to reconnect is unplug and re-plug USB cable.

I have tried with another identical phone and another PC and I have obtained the same result.

A patch in bug #566812 claim that it solves also the auto reconnection, given that the auto flag is on.

Same as @scatto I need to re-plug USB modem if I loose connection. It would be nice to have option to reconnect.

There is an option to auto connect, if you look in the connection list. If it does not work, probably you can't reconnect manually either and that is the reason it does not work.

Actually not a duplicate. Bug #848164 is about auto-**connection**, while this one is about auto-**reconnection**.

Regarding reconnection option, I think it is sufficient to use the autoconnection flag on each connection. To stop the autoconnection, disable mobile broadband.

None of Ubuntu yet. Upstream it is released. Debian should also have it.
