network connections drops manually entered ip addresses

Bug Description

In Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 the stock network connections configuration tool I have to add the ip address to my second nic at every boot up because it returns to automatic connection default

 5271 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/nm-system-settings --config /etc/NetworkMan

is the only network manager I can see running

I have it running on two separate machine sole operating system on each does the same on both

this is a dupe of the master bug 284298; its fixed in jaunty. Consider to check out the beta CDs we released a few days ago to verify that.
