I assume you are using intrepid?

We dont use hal for modem detection in jaunty anymore. most likely your GSM modem is properly detected now. Please report back if you still have issues after upgrading to jaunty.

Using Jaunty, RC1. Detected when running lsusb as:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 05c6:9211 Qualcomm, Inc.

However, network manager does not recognize it.

Note - also did not work on 8.10, or 9.04 A4 - RC1

If I can provide additional info, please let me know.

Does not work on Jaunty 9.04 final release either

lsusb shows device, network manager does not detect it.

As suggested,I am adding this to the ModemManager project, as I understand that is where 3g modems are actually handled.

This is still broken as of latest Ubuntu 9.04.

Has there been any progress on this, also I know usbserial is (has?) been added back into the kernel after it was removed for 9.04, will this help? Perhaps using the source for the 3G drivers from Acer would help - I'm assuming it's GPL....

This seems to be magically fixed in 9.10 Karmic... can anyone else confirm?

NOT fixed in Karmic. Still have to boot first in Windows (to load
Qualcomm firmware) and then restart in 9.10 Karmic to bring up broadband
wireless network. My 9.10 system is up-to-date fix wise. Hopefully this
will be fixed in time for the new release 10.04. See my thread in Ubuntu

Hi, still having problems with my 3G modem (Qualcomm 9212) being recognized in Ubuntu 10.04 RC. Please fix this as I have no method to use my 3G modem in my netbook. Thanks.
