Bug Description

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit (up to date as of Oct 8, 3:01 EST) on a Dell Lattitude D630 laptop. After 8.10 update network manager doesn't recognize my wired network connection (eth0). It always shows that as disconnected. This causes other applications to behave incorrectly (for e.g. Firefox starts in offline mode by default because of this issue).

Here is the lspci output for my network card:
09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5752 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)

I do not have any issue with wired network connection though, it connects and functions properly.

Please let me know if you need further information.

Thanks,
Rajan

should be fixed in intrepid. applet still shows you as offline, but when you are using unmanaged devices, other applications will see CONNECTED.
