Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
I have tested the new network-manager with intrepid.
My modem: “Icon 7.2 El” / “Qualcomm 3G CDMA” (appearently Option Globetrotter) USB modem
My service provider: 3 in Austria.
APN: drei.at
Results:
I still have to use usb-modeswitch. 3-modems have a windows-driver on a usb CD-device on the modem. A windows system is supposed to run the setup.exe on the usb storrage device to install the modem drivers. The drivers will then switch the modem from storrage-device mode to the modem mode. For us, usb-modeswitch helps.
I found usb-modeswitch there: http://
I use a udev-rule to call usb_modeswitch whenever the device is plugged.
As soon as the modem is switched to modem mode, network-manager will recognize it. Then connecting works without changing any settings, without any problems so far. This really changed my opinion on network-manager. It's great!
