I can confirm this on xubuntu and ubuntu 8.04. Or rather, if I configure a wireless network manually with encryption, I can't use nm-applet to choose wireless network. This however works if i configure an open network and set the wireless card in roaming mode. The wireless network is up and running, but I can't choose network if i have several, or switch between wireless card and eth0. Also, the nm-applet icon that should display link quality as a bargraph is only shown when using roaming mode, not if manually configured (encrypted/dhcp).
Where to proceed from here?
