Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
In Hardy 64-bit, network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu2 fails to connect on start-up after the updates to hal, etc on 21/22 March 2008. I'm using a Broadcom 4306 card with the b43 driver, which has worked fine since the replacement of bcm43xx.
The symptoms (reported in forums by many folk) include no connection; the panel icon switches to the signal bars, but they stay gray/white instead of blue. The information tip says "...connected to ***, 0%". Connection through a wired network turns on smoothly when a network cable is plugged in. Other installs on the same machine (Gutsy 32-bit, sidux 64-bit, WinXP Home) connect to the wireless network.
Stepping back to n-m 0.6.6-0ubuntu1 cures the bug for me, and for some others.
Using up-to-date Hardy, upgraded from Gutsy.
