network manager doesn't show wireless interface if wireless switch is turned off during boot

Bug Description

If i start my laptop (toshiba a100-750) with wireless card switch turned off and when i'm in gnome i turn it on the network-manager doesn't recognize the card. The wifi card is a intel 3945 and i'm using hardy (iwl3945 driver).
