network-manager applet up/down arrows when connected to wifi only

Bug Description
I have an issue with the network-manager applet that shows up and down arrows (wired connection?) when connected to wifi only. I still have internet connectivity, but unable to choose a wifi network. The computer: Toshiba Satellite L55W-C5320. The OS: Ubuntu 16.04.4. Thank you, Pavel
