wifi status not remembered after reboot

I have HP ZBook 15 (1st generation, 2013) with ubuntu-MATE 64-bit; latest updates installed. I am presently using an ethernet cable network so I turn the wireless network off. After each new start or reboot of the machine the wifi radio gets always on and I always have to switch it off manually.

The notebook uses an Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (rev 24) wireless adapter (I hope this is a hardware version, not a driver one).

I think that the On status by default is not good for several reasons:
- energy consumption is higher
- security may be affected
- more electromagnetic radiation in environment

How are you disabling wireless, with a button/switch on your laptop or by unchecking "Enable Wi-Fi" in the network indicator? linux-firmware isn't the right package for this bug, but until you answer this question I'm not sure which package is the right one. Thanks!

No matter in which way I disable it. Both ways of controlling wireless work perfectly and consistently (contrary to some previous versions of ubuntu, e.g. 14.04). The only problem is that the system does not remember its previous wifi status (On or Off) and always starts with wireless networks On.

I do not use the automatic login on the machine and always have to log in manually (should the issue have anything to do with the way of the log-in procedure).

Losing the state when using the network indicator sounds like a network-manager bug, so I'm going to change this to affecting that package. The issue when using a key could be caused by network-manager, the kernel, or your system firmware depending on how it's implemented for your machine.

I just add that the status light of the hardware key and the status shown by the network indicator are tightly coupled (as they should be). For example, when I turn wifi off using the indicator, the LED light on the HW button switches its colour from white (signalling the ON status) to the orange one (OFF status). And vice versa.
