Bug Description

Wifi says it's connected at all times but the internet drops out and nothing connects on WLAN or the internet.

Every 2 minutes, I disconnect and reconnect to make it work again but it soon drops out again.

Recently upgraded from Ubuntu 11 where everything worked with 3rd party drivers that don't work with current version.

ALl help gratefully received.

I have a similar issue, where exactly every 2 minutes the bandwidth drops from ~50mbit to ~3mbit for a second or two, then goes back up. No dropped packets or anything reported. Tested with iperf. Wired connection shows no issue at all. Happens on both TCP and UDP tests.

I have the same or similar issue at times, at least on one computer running Ubuntu 12.04.

NetworkManager does a scan every 2 minutes.
It can lead to latency issues, lost packets or disconnections.

To disable it, you can set the BSSID in your WIFI access point profile (in the network settings).

Maybe this will fix your issue.

i have a same problem in ubuntu 14.04..but in my case it's not exactly 2 minute...most of times when i download a huge file everything's ok but when network is idle it gets disconnected...it reminds me sth like power saving mode! i thought maybe its cause of new thechnology of my new laptop because on my older laptop i didnt have same problem.

Can confirm, but haven't figured out why it occurs sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. Definitely no indication of the problem on any UI, Wifi seems to be connected, it's just no internet coming through. Wifi on/off fixes it for just a few minutes, too. Very annoying problem, and it is due to Ubuntu 22.04, the same machine, previous Ubuntu, no problems, all other devices the network have no problems, there were no changes on the side of the router.
