VPN connections overwrite any MTU set on the interface

Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc

I miss an option to set the MTU for the tun0-interface. It is hardcoded in the sourcecode to 1412 but I need another MTU for my university.

I searched for it in gnome-bugzilla and found a bug for that: #344967
Is it possible to add this patches to the ubuntu-version?

I need this option, too.

You may set the MTU value in /etc/vpnc/vpnc-script line 115, but this seems to not effect the network-manager-vpnc.

A workaround is to use a networkmanager-dispatcher script. I've attached mine which seems to work.

confirm this problem with my ADSL network linked house.

For benefit of others googling for answers, symptoms are like so:
 vpnc establishes connection just fine. It looks like it is up. However I ssh into a server, and type ls,
and the ssh session hangs/dies there. This should say something like vpnc hangs on large transfers after connection is established.
