Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-
Gnome network manager applet - connection slows to a halt with heavy connection load when connected to a PPTP tunnel.

User in this thread experiences the same problem.
I can also confirm that torrenting through them is hard work, particularly with multiple connections. I don't think it's related to the number of connected peers.
