Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

With a network-manager-configuration that works perfectly without the system setting checked on the latest Intrepid (upgraded from Hardy), two odd things occur when trying to check the "System setting" box:
1) The box doesn't stick unless some other field is changed as well. That is, open nm, edit VPN config, tick or untick "System setting" check box, return and settings are unchanged.
2) The VPN no longer works. A pop up gives the error "VPN connection failed - The VPN connection '<vpn_name>' failed because the VPN service failed to start."

Syslog shows the following:

Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> Starting VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn'...
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn' started (org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn), PID 5095
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn' just appeared, activating connections
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> VPN plugin state changed: 1
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> VPN plugin state changed: 3
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> VPN connection '<vpn_name>' (Connect) reply received.
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <WARN> nm_vpn_connection_connect_cb(): VPN connection '<vpn_name>' failed to connect: 'No VPN configuration options.'.
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <WARN> connection_state_changed(): Could not process the request because no VPN connection was active.
Mar 18 19:33:39 hardy NetworkManager: <info> Policy set '<wireless_name>' (wlan0) as default for routing and DNS.
Mar 18 19:33:51 hardy NetworkManager: <debug> [1237419232.000469] ensure_killed(): waiting for vpn service pid 5095 to exit
Mar 18 19:33:52 hardy NetworkManager: <debug> [1237419232.001000] ensure_killed(): vpn service pid 5095 cleaned up

This is with openvpn-2.1~rc11-1ubuntu2 and network-manager-openvpn-0.7~~svn20081015t024626-0ubuntu1.

Thanks.
