Bug Description

I guess system setting checkbox means that this connexion should be made before login. If that's the case (it doesn't work for me by the way, but that's another bug), it should be something more meaningfull like :

"Connect automatically before login"

And should be converted to a radio button (the other checkbox would become "Connect automatically when logging in")

I took it to mean "available to all users".

This option should be clarified in the UI.

Absolutely. I had no idea what this option might do before I found this bug report.
What made it even more difficult is that it is (apparently wrongly) translated to "Systemeinstellungen" (german), which means "System settings" (plural).
At least an explanation should be displayed when you hover your mouse pointer over this setting.

can you check the latest packages in network-manager team ppa
(https://edge.launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive) for
intrepid/jaunty and if its not fixed, please open a bug in
bugzilla.gnome.org and give us your bug id so we can ensure this gets
proper attention?

thanks

This seems fixed in the ppa intrepid package (The checkbox now reads "Available to all users")
