VPN connections stopped working

Bug Description
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04
fully updated
I have two pptp vpn connections configured that were working as of Fri June 26 2014
Today I attempted to connect the vpn using the Networkmanager icon on the taskbar
clicking the vpn yeilds nothing no error dialogs, no action from the icon idicating the connection
attempt. Nothing.
