no indication of what caused connection failure (missing trusted cert)

Bug Description

I tried connecting to a fortinet VPN, with the right hostname, port, username, password. The wifi icon flashed a bit, and then I was not connected to the VPN, with no message as to why.

Following https://serverfault.com/a/922767/104546 I found out I needed to trust a certificate, adding that in the Advanced GUI let me connect, but preferably the GUI should have popped up a question on connection failure asking me whether I wanted to trust the certificate.
