The line "Enable wireless" disappears when unticked

Bug Description

This is unpleasant, because the only way of turning wireless back on is to go to the network settings and disable the airplane mode. Not everyone whows that there is a keyboard shortcut for this too...

Solution: the line "Enable wireless" should't disappear and one should be able to reenable wireless form the nm-applet window

Indeed, it's not supposed to disappear. I think you're hitting bug 956349. Just to be sure, could you paste here the output for the nm-tool command?

I can confirm this bug. After unticking "Enable Wireless", the line "Enable Wireless" in the network-manager indicator menu disappears.
I can use "nmcli nm wifi on" from a terminal to re-enable it, as well as the keyboard shortcut "Fn+F2".

Observed in current beta of 12.04.

Bastian, if your system is fully up to date, then please file a new bug report the moment you reproduce the issue. Make sure you file the bug using "ubuntu-bug network-manager".

Nothing has changed so far...

So, the problem is:
1. switching off wireless is a one-step procedure, but switching it back on is a two-step one.
2. when switching it off, the line "Enable wireless" disappears giving no obvious way how to turn it back on. A normal user would be LOST!

Still not enough reasons for fixing it?
