Bug Description

I connect to VPN from network manager applet (click on VPN connections and choose VPN to connect to) and do some work. After a while i disconnect from VPN via clicking on "Disconnect" and connection is released (it is not active anymore, i am not able to ping any of remote servers), small "lock" icon over the network manager applet's icon disappeared, but connection is still alive in "VPN connection list. I am not able to choose another VPN untill i kill nm-applet and run it again. I have this problem on two independent ubuntu 11.04 installations (one on my work notebook, and one on my virtual machine). This is very annoying. Here are list of related SW versions:

ii network-manager 0.8.4~git.20110319t175609.d14809b-0ubuntu3 network management framework daemon
ii network-manager-gnome 0.8.4~git.20110318t152954.9c4c9a0-0ubuntu1 network management framework (GNOME frontend)
ii network-manager-openvpn 0.8.1+git.20100810t173015.1711d04-0ubuntu2 network management framework (OpenVPN plugin)
ii network-manager-openvpn-gnome 0.8.1+git.20100810t173015.1711d04-0ubuntu2 network management framework (OpenVPN plugin, GNOME UI)
ii network-manager-pptp 0.8.1+git.20110207t142407.7e1d989-0ubuntu1 network management framework (PPTP plugin)
ii network-manager-pptp-gnome 0.8.1+git.20110207t142407.7e1d989-0ubuntu1 network management framework (PPTP plugin, GNOME UI)
ii network-manager-vpnc 0.8.1+git.20110207t151002.6a2b2d6-0ubuntu2 network management framework (VPNC plugin)
ii network-manager-vpnc-gnome 0.8.1+git.20110207t151002.6a2b2d6-0ubuntu2 network management framework (VPNC plugin, GNOME UI)

i did not find anything usefull in /var/log/syslog. network manager reports just VPN info about established and released connections.

Indeed, it will take some time before the menu gets updated to show the VPN was disconnected. Other events triggered (like wireless scan results, other disconnections, etc.) will usually trigger a menu update.

This has been fixed in Oneiric in the last upload of nm-applet, so I'll close this as Fix Released.

Changed in network-manager-applet (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released
