This has become a real show stopper for me since I no longer have network connectivity. Is there anything more that I can do or provide to aid the resolution of this?

I've resolved this using the following method:

Having noticed the following warning from nm-applet whilst running it from the command line:

** (nm-applet:10026): WARNING **: replace_settings: error updating system connection /org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/3 settings: (2) key-mg

I then removed this entry by right clicking on nm-applet icon then Edit Connections->Wireless tab and deleting that entry. Now nm-applet no long crashes when I left click on.
