Bug Description

Trying to (re)connect to a (eduroam) wireless network using WPA2 Enterprise using certificates the nm-connection-editor pops up. I have previously been connected to the network. Everything except User Certificate, Private Key and Private Key Password is filled in. The connect-button is greyed out. After filling in the missing information (shouldn't i be remembered by the way?) the Connect-button is still greyed out and thus I can't connect to the network.

I'm also affected by this, when attempting to create a new connection. It's a pain to have to convert the .p12 files to .pems (because bug #291242 is _not_ fixed) but its really obnoxious that even the PEM certificates work any more.

I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate of bug #446394. When the "Connect to Hidden..." dialog is displayed and a connection other than "New" selected, the associated secrets are not loaded, which in turn means the "Connect" button is not enabled.

If it turns out that this bug is specific to the specific WPA2/Enterprise configuration, then it should be un-DUP'd.

Same applies to the new upstream Gnome NM bug, although I don't think I have permission to make it a DUP.

Just to clarify, this happens to me when key information for the WPA2 network through the regular drop-down list of APs, *not* through the "Connect to Hidden..." dialog. Maybe the WPA2 connection dialog and connect to hidden dialog suffer from the same bug, but bug report #446394 seems to be pretty specifically only about the connect to hidden dialog. Donno if it'd be best to change the title and broaden the scope of the other one, un-dup this bug it or what, though.

Christopher, my mistake... un-DUP'd.

Turns out I had an outdated certificate. That means that for me, the real bug is that NM should provide verbose enough feedback to determine this without needing to additional tools.

Can anyone reproduce this in final 9.10 release? There were significant updates made to NM from Jaunty.
