Bug Description

after resuming from suspend, the network applet shows the spinning wheel as it tries to connect and the black image appears showing the network "disconnected" from the wireless network. Once the network finally becomes connected, then the black image/logo appears again, but it is still "disconnected". this image persists several seconds (5?) after the network is connected according to the icon in the menu bar. The black image should show the "connected" logo and text after the network connects.

did you restart your system after upgrading to the current network-manager-gnome package you have?

If so, please killall nm-applet and start it from console ... then reproduce and paste the output you got on resume.

also tail -f /var/log/syslog and reproduce and post the output got there during suspend resume (when reproducing).

I did restart my system after installing. Sure- I'll do the checks tonight when I get home.

killing nm-applet and restarting it looks good... no black message image/icon shows up, though.

when setting the system to sleep (shutting lid of my laptop), the system wakes from sleep and then displays:

Network
"Disconnected. You are now offline"
in a black box at the top right of the screen (see original screenshot)

The problem is that when waking from sleep, the "disconnected" text and icon stay displayed long after the icon in the menubar shows that the network is connected. I'd expect a new/updated notification once the network is connected, so the black box says "network connected" or something similar.

syslog output after waking from sleep is attached.

nm-applet screen output:
** (nm-applet:2541): DEBUG: foo_client_state_changed_cb
** (nm-applet:2541): DEBUG: going for offline with icon: notification-network-wireless-disconnected

I can reproduce this in Lucid final release. I'm surprised that it even shows the notification, because I've configured the applet not to show any.

This bug is still present in Oneiric Ocelot after a clean install. When I resume my laptop after suspend, the notification says "Network Disconnected - you are now offline." and it stays present indefinitely. Some times it will go away if I click on it, other times, it will stay until I reboot my computer.
