Bug Description

I am trying to use a static IP for my computer as I remote desktop to it regularly. When trying to set the static IP it does not save, and even more so, every time I try to save it to all users, the editor completely crashes. Others in the forum have been having this issue, but the bug they said is not the same issue.

Can you please check your bug isn't the same as bug #436109 and mark it as a duplicate? I'm also suffering from it, and your description seems exactly the same problem that many users also reported.

It is similar to that, and it does crash at the same time when using the "allow all users", but it is more as it also does not save even when it does not crash.

Basically:
For duplicate - It crashes just like in the other bug
Against duplicate - It does not save even when it does not crash

So this may still be a duplicate, but it may not, depending on what qualifies as one.

I can confirm this as of 4:00pm PST Oct 5. Not only does it not keep the settings but if you set a static IP in
/etc/network/interfaces then /etc/resolv.conf seem to break as well as in no name resolution.

I'm having this problem too.

If I try and set a static IP in /etc/network/interfaces, nm-applet overwrites it. If I set a static IP in nm-applet, the setting doens't stick. Please have nm-applet taken out back and shot. It's worthless.
