nm doesn't save static configuration

Bug Description
If I set a static configuration in nm settings for the wired connection, it is always resetted to "DHCP". Installed Karmic into a virtual machine. The configuration i try to set is:
192.168.178.3 / 255.255.255.0 / no gateway / no dns server

I have the exactly same problem. Tried with either the live-cd or fresh install (karmic beta).
The network manager crashes after submitting the password for authentication.
After that everthing is resettet.
