Bug Description
I just installed Ubuntu onto a friends computer. I tried to use the standard bc42-fwcutter to get his card to work. I discovered that this wouldn't work and only the "Broadcom STA" driver would work. For unsecured networks this worked great but when I would try to connect to a WPA2-Enterprise type network, the kernel would panic. Having to unplug the computer was not my favorite option. I discovered that I'm working with a 802.11n card which fwcutter doesn't support and STA cause a kernel panic.
I searched and found a website that showed how to get ndiswrapper to work on Intrepid at:
http://
Now the card worked but WPA2-Enterprise is still the problem. I have these settings:
WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
Protected EAP (PEAP)
CA Certificate: mycert.cer
Peap Version: 0
MSCHAPv2
Username: me
Password: password
Once I hit Ok nm-applet starts to attempt connection until it fails. When I edit my connection settings the CA Certificate is blank and askes me to pick one again. Every time I hit Ok the certificate disappears.
I tried to get around this by adding the wireless network under a different name. If I create a network with a different name and the same SSID, save it, edit it, change the name, and connect it works (that one time.) I really don't want to have to do this all the time. If I create a new network with the settings and try to connect to a "hidden network" with the name i assign it, it says I should have a CA certificate. If I click to browse for one it does nothing. Clicking again crashes the applet.
Any input would be great. My computer has a "g" type card and i've had no problems so it is probably not common. I didn't start to have these problems until I started to use Ndiswrapper. But kernel panic is not an option so I need to use ndiswrapper until bc42-fwcutter support "n" type cards. Any help would be appreciated.
