Bug Description
Kubuntu Jaunty alpha 3 + all upgrades.
Start the KDE session, kill the knetworkmanager ("killall knetworkmanager"), start the network manager applet ("nm-applet"). The applet is not visible in the panel, but it occupies some black space there.

Same problem for me with 64bit kernel 2.6.28-6. In order to connect to a previously defined wireless network I have to run
knetworkmanager from terminal. The wireless signal strength icon then appears.
